Spacebridge
The spacebridge is an interdimensional connection between two points in
space. It was invented by the Decepticons in the cartoon continuities and
by the neutral Transformer Spanner in the comic continuities.
The spacebridge was a teleportation device invented by the Decepticons in the 1980's as a way of bridging the distance between Cybertron and Earth. Originally, this was to allow Energon shipments from Earth to be received and used by Shockwave on Cybertron. Soon, it was shown that the spacebridge could safely teleport both inanimate and animate objects. An interesting property of the spacebridge around that time was that while the Cybertron end of the bridge remained in one constant place, the Earth end always manifested itself at different places. This may reflect the fact that at different times, a different part of the Earth would be facing Cybertron. At one point, a massive spacebridge was constructed which pulled Cybertron itself through, into orbit near Earth. Although Cybertron was moved away, it remained within easy flying distance of spaceborne vehicles, and the spacebridge became useful mostly for bulk transport and travel by non-spaceworthy beings.
